Eng. Tamir Mitiku Habeteyes is a highly experienced hydraulic and hydropower engineer, irrigation engineer, wastewater specialist and water-supply and sanitation professional with more than twenty-five years of experience. His career spans almost the complete engineered water cycle—from irrigation and groundwater development through pumping, bulk conveyance and urban water supply to sanitation, wastewater, fecal-sludge treatment, commissioning and operational performance monitoring.

He holds an MSc in Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineering and a BSc in Irrigation Engineering and is registered as a Practicing Professional Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineer in Ethiopia. His project experience includes modern FSTP/WWTP work, Debre Berhan's urban WSS programme, the 5,000-ha Kwale International Sugar development in Kenya and the 7,000-ha Wonji Agriculture Expansion Project.
